A Little Hoot Kind Of Day

To end my birthday week, I will share a fun little date I had with my kids all based around the book "Little Hoot" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.  It really was a perfect little day, and a fun way to mix up really digging into a book.  Have you ever read a book and said, "I want to have that day with my kids?!"  This is exactly what I wanted to do!

To give you a little background, Little Hoot is an owl like a lot of owls in so many ways except one. He doesn't like bedtime..and not because he doesn't like going to bed, but because he is an owl, and owls HAVE to stay up at night!  This fun little book goes through the activities his mom and dad get him to do to stay up as long as possible..and with that let me tell you about our day, which definitely ended up being:

and starring my own 3 little hoots!

In the book, Little Hoot has to come up with activity after activity to help him stay awake. (This is not a problem in my home, but we sure had a good time following Little Hoot's lead!)

Little Hoot built a fort....so we did too:

Of course, fort building is tiring so we refueled.

Little Hoot jumped on his bed..and so did we:

The last little bit of the night was hardest for Little Hoot..so he skateboarded..

However, we live in Vegas and in  110 degree weather, you just don't skateboard, so we did what we do best...swim!

And after all of those activities, we had the same outcome:

My kids not only love this book, but had so much fun reenacting their favorite pages in real life!  This has my head spinning now to think of other "dates" we can have.

Our treats were made especially for our day...and the kids loved them.  Do you want to make them too?

"You're A Hoot" cupcake decor will be available for FREE only until Monday, July 18th. It will then head to my shop with a host of other supplies to host a perfect owl party!  You can find the free download HERE.  On Monday I will show you the rest of the fun set..including the invites,a flag garland, and more!

Thanks for stopping by this week. It always makes my day brighter when you comment!  Don't forget to enter the giveaways..and you can still enter the HomeMade Simple one right below as well!
